The establishment of Universiti Keusahawanan Koperasi Malaysia (UKKM) is in line with the aspiration to educate the third generation to be catalyst for change and create new ideas that can change the landscape of the cooperative movement that has been in existence for the last 100 years in Malaysia. Consequently, the need for increased individual competence is seen as a main agenda initiated by the Ministry of Entrepreneur and Cooperative Development (KUSKOP) and the related agencies.
In line with that aspiration, UKKM plays a distinctive role in the development of human capital through entrepreneurship education so as to enable cooperative institutions to produce graduates in this field and hence, create an impact on the national economic sector. To realise this agenda, UKKM sets its vision to be a university that outshines in the field entrepreneurship and cooperatives based on contentment and sustainable development of the national economy. The UKKM has also drawn up a strategic mission that is, to generate entrepreneurial and cooperative excellence through teaching, learning, research, publishing and development to achieve the country's insight.
Alhamdulillah, UKKM has received a letter of approval from the Ministry of Higher Education (MoHE) to operate as a Private Educational Institution (IPTS) with full University status on 29th March 2023. To date, the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA) has approved five (5) programmes with Provisional Accreditations (PAs) status, namely Diploma in Cooperative Management (DPK), Diploma in Cooperative Entrepreneurship (DKK), Bachelor of Business Administration (Cooperative Entrepreneurship) (Honours), Bachelor of Business Administration (Cooperative Management) (Honours), Master in Business Administration (Cooperative Management). These programmes have also been approved by MoHE, and therefore, UKKM is now ready to sail.
